Hello Folks:
I haven't been writing this column for awhile. The truth is that the news is so very depressing. Our president's inaction is very depressing. Well, he has did some things that seem to be working. The surge in troops in Iraq seems to be having a positive effect on the terrorism there and he has vetoed the heath bill that congress sent him. Why anybody in their right mind would think that the government of the United States should provide health benefits to everybody is a mystery to me. I understood that the federal government was supposed to protect our country from outside invasions via an army etc., and stuff like that. Instead people seem to want them to oversee the things that are in each individual states prerogative and the individual themselves. They want the government to tell them when to go to bed and when to get up, what to eat and not eat, what to think and not think, etc., etc., etc. (add your own to this list) This is socialism folks and could lead to communism . People are such selfish idiots! They would think only of themselves and let our country slide into oblivion.
Well, as to that our federal representatives (congressmen and senators) are doing the same thing. They quite obviously think only of themselves and often don't even think about the states they represent in the Congress of the United States. They vote themselves more money and they play games with their votes on issues of national security to our nation. Could anybody do a worse job their than these so-called intellectuals we vote into office? Anyway, they really seem to want illegal people to invade our country and destroy our culture, economy and our way of living. Why would they want our country to drop to the level of third world nations? It makes no sense.....well at least until you start understanding that they are being bombarded with money from big business that no longer consider themselves American but international or globalyst. Even our court system is being bombarded with ideas from without and may work outside of our constitution. The American People obviously don't want their culture changed and they way of life destroyed but our Congressmen, Supreme Court, and especially our President don't seem to care what the American People want anymore. We need to really look at our candidates for all offices in this coming 2008 election.
We need to especially consider who we want for our next president of the United States of America. I personally don't want that carpet bagger Hillary. I haven't forgotten where she came from. If she had of went back to Arkansas and then gotten into politics I would have had more respect for her. She's every bit as bad as the carpetbaggers who went into the South after the Civil War and gained power and riches for themselves. Rudy may be called America's Mayor but I can't help but think that this was all after 9/11 not before it. I can't vote for a candidate who will condone babies being murdered. I do like Romney a lot, I don't know enough about Huckabee (no doubt spelled his name wrong) yet except if Romney has to talk about his faith, why shouldn't every candidate be put on the carpet on this subject. I remember going to Salt Lake City several times to the Family History Center there. I've never seen folks with such a happy look as some of those Mormon folk there.
On the subject of a person's faith or religion I remember my grandfather talking about how he would not vote for Kennedy because he was Catholic. Well, Kennedy was elected but the Pope did not gain any big status in the US. Are people afraid of those old Mormon graybeards gaining something? The thought is hilarious! A person of faith, whatever their faith, is a much better person that a person of no faith. This country is built on and by people of faith. The Mormon Church say that they are Christian and they believe in Jesus. Who are we to attempt to say that they are not Christian? People try to say the same about the Catholic Church also, when in reality all the Protestant Churches are off shoots of the Catholic Faith in Christ. When are we going to tear down the Baptists, the Methodists, Jehovah Witnesses, 7th Day Adventists (who came from the Baptists I believe), the Episcopalians, so on and so forth? A man's faith is to be admired instead of destroyed like many have attempted to destroy the Jewish Faith, which by-the-way is the basis of both Christian and Muslim Religions. I like to think that we are all Jewish but separated like the Protestants have separated from the Catholics. Could we ever have a president who is Buddhist? What do you think?
My ancestor came to Jamestown, VA in 1635. This a measly 15 years after the Pilgrims landed in Plymouth. Maybe he, like the pilgrims, came here to practice his personal faith. Why would we hold that against someone? I think that the important things we need to consider are:
Well I'm not certain yet who I think the best candidate for president is, but you can bet that it will be someone who believes in the God of their understanding and has faith in that God. Why would I vote for someone who is reluctant to let people know of their beliefs, who quite obviously has no belief at all? Another time where we get what we pay for.....so to speak! I believe that 'We the People' certainly need to get to the voting polls in 2008.
Catch you later, take care now...
