I've spent the week listening to the news and it's been all about the Hurricane Katrina and now Hurricane Rita. It reminds me that when they started naming hurricanes that they were all named after women. The old saying is "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned!" Maybe that is why they were named after women...you think! Then, the liberal establishment said that's not equal and now some are named after men. Hurray to being "equal" and not being a man or woman. What does that make us... half man and half woman? Does taking away our masculinity or femininity make us equal or does it attempt to hide our real God-given nature? We are different, folks, and we should be proud to be different. Why would we want to be the same? God made us to complement each other, not to take the place of each other. In general, women are next-builders and men are builders and dreamers. Without men we would have never went into space and without women there would be no homes and families. Of course we are all individuals and both men and women have some traits of each gender. It seems to me that we all start out equal according to our race, religion, and gender, but why do some people want to make our boys into girls and our girls into boys? That is what it seems is being attempted by our liberal buddies. There are always boys with feminine traits and girls with more masculine traits...so what? Why attempt to change the boys and girls of our country into something most are not equipped to be according to the nature of their gender? We have many confused kids growing up these days as a result of these attempts by so many "good" people.

Well, many local people, companies and organizations are sending help and aid to the victims. It's on the news constantly and what a benefit to those who do so. They will benefit beyond measure as will the families they are helping. Our government has pledged so much money that we'll be lucky if we survive it. I'm certain that terrorists the world over are laughing themselves silly over the hurricanes and over this country going broke on this spending spree. Smart thinking Mr. Bush and Congress, It's pretty obvious that there are no conservatives in our government. You folks could be helping bring down this country economically and helping terrorism defeat us.

I know that FEMA has rules about funding rebuilding efforts for victims of catastrophes. I have not heard any of those rules mentioned in the news. Certain requirements need to be met before, not after, something happens. I only hope that we recognize that the big money giveaway is not going to help many of the people that have been displaced. It's back to the old "give a person a fish vs. give a person the means to catch their own fish" philosophy. Our government in it's frenzy to spend money, and look good to the voters, is in the long run not going to help those people, they will need to try to help themselves. I remember when my house burned down in Alaska, the government never helped me, in fact, it was responsible for me not getting any help in putting out the fire. The help that I received was from the local business people and the place where I worked afterward. After losing everything but my car, in six months, I had more "things" than I had before the fire. These people will also have, at least, as much as before if they are willing to work. There will certainly be lots of work for those willing to work. Already on the news I've heard about the possibility of illegal's doing the work of cleaning up the hurricane devastated areas. What's the matter with residents or former residents, needing work, doing it? Is it beneath them in some way? That concept is pure stupidity! After my house burned down I lived in a chicken house that I converted to be habitable, for awhile, while I started building another house. I did the cleanup myself , and I see on the news some people who have started doing just that. Those people I applaud and they are the people who deserve the help most of all.

Anyway there hasn't been as much on the news about Iraq since the storms so don't be surprised if terrorists start blowing more people and things up there. They won't like not being on the news.

Years ago, a friend of mine told me the no country would ever dare attack the United States directly. He said that is because the citizens here are armed. He further said that because of the news about the gun-crime in our country that the world knew that we were armed and could use our weapons. He wasn't not applauding crime, just making a point. Well, with all the hype about the killings in Iraq, what would you think the murder rate would be in, say, Oakland, CA any day of the week? Would it match the US deaths in Iraq? What about other cities? Washington DC for example, I wonder what the murder rate is there every day? The liberal news won't tell us or compare these things. Wonder why that is? Anyway, to get back on track, another friend of mine years ago told me that when he was a young man he remembered Britain advertising here in the US for guns. He said that they were asking us to donate our arms to them because they were unarmed over there and they were being attacked by the Germans (W.W.II). I hope this country will never have to face the time when our citizens have no guns and can not defend themselves or have to ask for help from some other country. Our for-fathers would be ashamed of us for certain!

I have not heard any talk on the news about Mr. Bush's plans to move troops from Germany and S. Korea and bring them back to the US recently. Yes, he said that about a year ago...all of a sudden we have started getting some cooperation from countries that could be affected enormously by these kind of changes. With all the troops and related families, doctors, hospitals, etc. in Germany if we all of a sudden moved them it probably would destabilize that country. Our troops have been in Germany since W.W.II and though some may think that was different than after a war now, we may have to keep troops in Iraq and Afghanistan many years also. I'm certain that the German economy depends on the US in many respects as does Canada by-the-way. Canada's economy does depend on the US and our economy, although they would like to believe otherwise. Our armed forces are the ONLY armed forces that are completely trained in the world and our citizens are among the few countries who still have the right to own weapons personally. Even our National Guard is now combat trained with many of them having served in Iraq or Afghanistan already and coming back. Our Navy, Marines, Army, Air Force, and Coast Guard are almost all combat trained and ready. This is a factor not talked about, but is probably the only thing that has kept China from challenging us and overrunning Formosa. It's the only thing keeping N. Korea is some kind of check. It's giving us power over many countries in the world right now including Russia, Syria, and Iran. These countries see our readiness and you bet they know that our services and the men and women who serve are not amateurs and if they do really start something with us there will be serious consequences for them. This is a direct result of our response to the terrorist acts of 9/11/01. All is not lost yet, but if the liberal press and the liberal representatives of congress are listened too, then our country will be torn apart by the wolves and they are waiting out there. Why would any of us want that? Why do the liberals seem to want that? What is the real agenda behind all of the talk by them in Congress? See you next week, God willing.....
