Hi everybody:

Why is it that some people are so vicious? I recently received an e-mail from someone that I love very much and it really hurt me.....and my life was actually was threatened. I've always been mystified by people who treat others so mean. This person is a very good talker and I'm not a very good one. Well, to continue on this theme, I watched that Presidential Debate the other night. One person is a slick talker and the other not slick at all. One had substance to his conversation and the other only talk.....but very smooth talk. One has experience and it showed when he spoke and the things he said made sense to me and the other has no experience and his lack of experience showed it almost ever time he spoke - but he spoke very smoothly. Lots of what the one person said was given with no substance....only words. This reminds me of a debate I remember watching between Jack Kennedy and Richard Nixon when I was much younger. Mr. Nixon was so much more polished a speaker than Mr. Kennedy (at least during this debate) and I distinctly remember looking at Mr. Nixon and thinking he always has the answer to all the questions.......while I remember Mr. Kennedy actually said in answer to one question "I don't know." When Jack Kennedy said that, I was for voting for Mr. Nixon, course I wasn't old enough to vote at that time..... I was taken in of course as I was many times when I was young and inexperienced myself. I learned something by remembering my own thinking while listening to that debate. History tells us that some of the very best of our Presidents aren't the best speakers necessarily, but they react the best in a real time of danger to our country. And this is a very real time of danger to our country right now.

Watching this debate reminded me of a place where I worked a few years ago. Here is a parable: A certain school had three superintendents. One who left the school for another and better job left it in good financial shape with about 62 students. This was a small country school (no doubt a rural one where the people clung to their guns and religion). Another superintendent was hired to replace him. This superintendent was a real go-getter. She worked very hard and cared very much for the school, but had a very rough personality. When she left after one year she had developed the school enough that she left it with a new student population of 90 and a high of 91 students. She was being fired, but quit first, because even though she gained more students and funding than any of the other superintendents did for the school, she didn't get along well, with the other personnel there. Another superintendent was hired to take her place. Now this superintendent was willing to work cheap and was hired. This one didn't care about the school at all. he only wanted a paycheck and the benefits of the job. Within a short time the student population lessened and within a year the school was threatened with lawsuit, and the funds decreased fast with a continuing lessening of students. This superintendent was a smooth talker. He sensed which way each wind blew and went with it on each issue and when he left finally the school it was almost broke with a student population of about maybe 50 students for the next year. Now who was the best of the three superintendents and who was the worst of the three superintendents for the school? And why? How could this parallel the past/current presidential terms and/or the next president of our country?

I've learned that just because a person talks smooth, that I need to digest and really try to understand what they are saying.... That's what I saw happening at that debate the other day. Yes, if you intersperse "some" real information among a lot of smooth answers that snow most of the people listening, they'll be taken in. Well, I was not taken in.... Mr. Obama is not fit to be President of my country.... If you disagree with me, I'm sorry but I have to call it as I see it..... The only thing of substance that I've heard that guy say is he'll increase taxes, he'll attempt to take our guns away, he'll attempt to tax the wealthy more....which will drive our jobs away faster....and when he'll try to use the government to fix our lives for us...which will take many freedoms away from us. He's always telling us in different words that he'll lead or push us into Socialism. That's the substance I get from his smooth talk. I get the feeling that if Mr. Obama became President that if a person crossed him that he would be very vicious like the person I mentioned above. That's scary to me.....and it's what I perceive that a Socialist President/boss would be like....(this is what came about in Cuba) who could stand against him? When government controls all and people have lost their freedoms for the laws of the state then our country that our ancestors fought to create is gone...

Well, Mr. McCain isn't my great hope either, but when he spoke I could understand what he was saying. I sensed that he really does care for our country. He's not out just for the paycheck and the benefits. He told people that one of the three people who benefited most from the lobbying of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac was Mr. Obama....did anyone listen? Does anyone listen when Mr. Obama's very close association with a known (former) terrorist is mentioned? Does anyone listen when his "Community Organizer" work is mentioned in conjunction with an outfit that has been fined over and over for illegal activity (including voter fraud) is spoken of? My feelings are that Mr. Obama is not a real person....he's simply the creation and tool of the Liberal left.....the creation of a group of people who have created a political machine of which Mr. Obama is the figurehead. This political machine probably started in Chicago between certain kingpins and a former terrorist there and the far left on the Democratic Party. He's a person like that last Boss in the parable above where he didn't care about the people or circumstances or the future of the institution at all.....only the money and benefits. And I feel that if Mr. Obama is elected the same thing will happen to our country that happened to the school in the parable above.....it will go downhill fast.

I hope that it doesn't happen to our country the way it did to the school in the parable above, but I'm scared that the smooth talking person will win. I remember how I felt and was taken in when I was a young man and there are so many young people out there without any experience at figuring out who is talking truth....who is telling the truth....who really intends what he says.... I can only hope that people with life experience will see the candidate who has the substance when he speaks and vote for him and not just listen to the flowing hypnotic rhythm of the voice a candidate with no substance - like many young people, who are inexperienced themselves, no doubt will.

Well, thanks,
