Frank Clyburn Marries!

Franklin L. Clyburn (me!) Married Angela Claire

The wedding took place in Timmonsville, South Carolina. It was depicted as a mid-1850's wedding. The bride was dressed in a ivory colored cotton floor-length gown in 1850's style, complete with hoop skirt and corset.

The groom (me) wore a knee length frock coat, an ivory shirt with wing-tipped collar, and a brocade vest typical of the period. The outfit was completed with Stetson and boots.

The bridal bouquet was made of peach roses and ivory day lilies with ivory and peach ribbon.

Attending the wedding were friends and family of the bride and groom.

The groom's sister Darlene Sederstrom of Fortson, Georgia with daughters, Bria, Cayla, Gina and Elena attended. Also attending were first cousin Paul Clyburn and wife Judy of Ohio also attended.

Friends of the bride including Arnold Crewe and granddaughter Susan from as far away as Wiggin, England attended. Friends attending were: Betty Greer, Mary Allred, RN, Gloria Dennis, RN, Brenda Powell, RN and Pam Pritchard, RN. Other friends and relatives of the bride attending were: Bennie Newman and wife Jaunice and sister Bernice Blackwell. Matron's of Honor were: Jonnie Morris of Timmonsville, SC and Eugenia Evans of Pamplico, SC.

Pamila Pritchard, RN, was soloist for the ceremony. Songs sung were: The Lord's Prayer, Because and When You Believe.

Folks, following the evening ceremony Angie and I retired to the local Howard Johnson Motel (honeymoon suite) for the evening. The next noon we started on our life-long adventure via Rider truck. What a time we had! Angela had previously rented a 24 foot Rider truck with trailer (for the pickup) and loaded it. We took off and traveled to Columbia, SC then turned North to Knoxville, TN, then to Nashville, TN. From there we traveled to Little Rock, AR and onward to Oklahoma City, OK. From Ok we traveled across the panhandle of Texas into New Mexico. Through Albuquerque to Flagstaff, AZ stopping to visit the Painted Desert and Petrified Forest.

We stayed overnight in Flagstaff and visited interesting local historic sites. We decided to park the truck and drove to Payson , AZ via Montezuma's Castle to visit my old friends Pres and Lee Gray. We stayed overnight with them and I went to a very welcome meeting with Pres while there.

The next day we continued our journey by returning to Flagstaff and heading for California. We arrived in Yreka on the evening of Thursday July 27th.

It took us two days to unload the truck! Then a couple of weeks to arrange the house. We then went to the Coast (Crescent City) to relax and visit cousin Susan Stewart and her family. Just a couple of days ago (Aug 19) we finally had a housewarming/reception party which was well attended by friends and family.

Angela and I recently (Sept 9) visited the Russian Orthodox Priest, Father Andre, and he performed a ceremony blessing our wedding. What a wonderful servant of god he is!

It's been a very tiresome time and Angela and I both look forward to relaxing even more. Angela has started work in Mt. Shasta hospital and I'm in the process of looking for a new career (I quit the school about a month ago, but now have been called back because of the illness of the superintendent [nobody else knows how to run the office] ) after 4 years. I've been called to four interviews since I've been back and really am trying hard to get a job.

Well God's will be done. I certainly have never known what kind of work I want to do.. Catch you-all later. -Frank Clyburn
