"October 1945 found me waiting for orders to go home. I had to go to Camp Beale in California to get discharged. While waiting I had a chance for a free ride to San Francisco on a B-25 Bomber. That was a real exciting trip! "

August 1943 - Yreka Journal
Private Narcy McBain of Hornbrook is a member of a Women's Army Corps Unit which left First WAC Training Center of Fort Des Moines, recently for duty with the army at Tampa, Florida.
WAC units now are at work with the army in approximately 100 army posts throughout the United States and overseas in Africa and England. More than 60,000 WAC's are at work and in training.
The expanded program of the WAC is resulting in the replacement of trained manpower by trained woman power in non-combatant army jobs. Hundreds of trained WAC's go out weekly from Fort Des Moines and from the other four WAC training centers and several specialist schools to take their places with the army.

To the Editor:
I have just read the first Yreka Journal I have seen since I left the good old United States.
I have been stationed one place and another here in the Aleutian's now for over five months. And I can tell you a home paper is really appreciated up here.
I was stationed at Dutch Harbor for about half the time I have spent up here. Now our outfit is together here on Island X of the Aleutian's and doing a very good job if I do say so myself.
Our battalion isn't a construction outfit, but our own and the ones that are have certainly done a wonderful job. So lets have a little praise or a good word for us.

Mr. And Mrs. S. F. Clyburn, now at Rockport, Texas, but who expect soon to return to their home on the Klamath River, received a visit recently from their daughter, PFC Narcy F. Angela's new book is out. It is the story of our family. This book tracks the family and many branches of the Clyburn / Cliburn / Claburn / Cliborn / etc back to the mid 1500's in England. It is full of rich family history. This book has photo's and migration maps and is around 700, 8 ½" x 11" pages long. It is not just a genealogical index, this is a real family history book. This book was compiled over a period of going on 18 years and was quite expensive to create. This book would be a prized possession for any of our family to own. Aimee and James' wedding was a very successful affair! Well, anyway they got married, which is the object isn't it. But what I'm trying to say is that they seem like a perfect couple. Aimee is a very nice girl and James seems quiet and very likable and seems to adore Aimee. All the ingredients of a happy marriage. It was a costume wedding and very fun. After the wedding everybody got to eat a good dinner. I finally got to meet some of Narcie's deceased husband, Dwayne's family. James has brothers and a sister that were there. They both had a lot of friends there and a good time was had by all. Congratulations Aimee and James. They plan to spend some time in Hawaii for a honeymoon.
I just received news that Gladys Genevieve Clyburn (Dave Clyburn's daughter) has recently married. She married a fellow by the name of Bob LeGault. Nice looking couple from the photo that I received. Congratulations Gee Ge!
